Title: Shibori Scarf
Size: 1 by 4 ft.
I made this scarf using a japanese dying method called shibori, I started with this white silk fabric then using folding, twisting, binding and tying, I dyed it it in indigo dye for about 45 minuetes, then took it out of its bindings and foldings, and this was the pattern it created. This was my first ever attempt with this technique, and it was a really cool experience, its a long process but definetly worth it!
Title: Cloth Painting
Size: 20 by 18 in.
Media: Paint
Using a piece of cloth, I stretched it on a canvas and painted on it with acrylics. It was mostly experimenting with different techniques and brush strokes, it was the first time I ever did something like this as well, I did both of these projects when I attended a summer program at Columbus college of art and design, which I now go to, studying fashion design. I really liked doing this and its inspired me in my own work, and eventually I'm wanting to design a clothing line that I use shibori techniques and this painting technique on.
